Additional bandwidth keeps your services running at full speed without overage charges. With [bandwidth pooling](https://kb.onidel.com/hc/kb/articles/1756044057-data-transfer-bandwidth-pooling), it doesn't matter which service has extra bandwidth — any additional bandwidth is added to the shared pool and can be used by any service within the same region.

**A few important notes:**

* Additional bandwidth does not carry over. Bandwidth usage resets on the first day of each month, regardless of your service billing cycle or when the additional bandwidth was purchased.

* It may take up to 5 minutes for throttling on VMs to be lifted after additional bandwidth is applied.

## Steps to purchase extra bandwidth

Go to the management page of any VM in the region where you need extra bandwidth, and click the **Add-ons** tab:

Click **Add New** and select **Additional Bandwidth**:

Choose your desired extra bandwidth and click **Submit**, a new invoice will be issued for payment. Pay the invoice to activate your bandwidth immediately.
